The Woods

The Woods is 19.1 pristine acres of forestland which is an important watershed and is home to deer, fox, bear, coyote, woodland turtles, thousands of trees and scores of woodland plants. The forest floor rises to the highest point in the area in the towns of Hawthorne and Wyckoff, and is bordered by North Haledon.

Over the decades gently curving walking trails have been created by residents walking the forest to visit neighbors or to just enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. All the building blocks are already in place to create a nature preserve which can be enjoyed by residents of Bergen and Passaic counties. Creating a preserve will protect vital wildlife and insure that this important watershed is retained.
